IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR CLAIM:
We are sorry to hear of your recent boating accident. Our experience and expertise allows us to quickly work to settle your claim and get you back on the water. Depending on the type of loss, an independent marine surveyor MAY be assigned to inspect your boat, take photos, review the estimate of repairs and take any additional information regarding your claim. Someone should contact you within one or two working days, if not, please contact our office immediately. The marine surveyor will then file a report with the insurance company. It is NOT UNCOMMON for their final reports to take 2 to 3 weeks during the busy boating season. You should always obtain the name and phone number of the surveyor assigned to your claim and feel free to call him any time with your questions. The company WILL NOT release funds until it receives this report, the repair estimate, your statement of loss, and the police report if applicable.
Most repair facilities will not order parts or begin repairs until YOU, the owner, authorize them to do so. Once the surveyor has inspected your boat and received all the necessary information, he may give you the go-ahead and then YOU must instruct the marina to proceed. If your policy has a loss payee clause it legally obligates the insurance company to issue any payment to you, our insured, and the loss payee. You may want to check with your loss payee to determine their procedures. Please provide their authorization in writing if they consent to the company issuing a check to you personally, or to you and the repair facility. Also, remember that you are responsible for payment of the deductible.
